Status: Minor repaint
Material: Hard gray vinyl
Paint: Glossy. 7 colors. Beige (base color); reddish brown (back); red (wash); white (stripes, face, teeth, throat); black (stripes, claws, pupil); pink (mouth); light orange (eyes)

TDR rating: 4/10

This release of the Carnegie Plateosaurus seems to have been either concurrent with or slightly later than the original (based on the fact that my sample of version 1 was purchased shortly after release in 1995), though the additional red wash suggests it might actually have been the first-produced color scheme even if it wasn't the first (or widest) released. The most noticeable differences are the less saturated beige base paint color, and the addition of a red airbrush wash blending the brown back with the beige underside. The stripes are painted on top of the red wash.

Version: 3
Release: 1998
Status: Minor repaint
Material: Tan vinyl
Paint: Matte. 5 colors. Reddish brown (back); white (stripes, face, teeth, throat); black (stripes, claws, pupil); pink (mouth); yellow (eyes)

TDR rating: 1/10

The Carnegie Plateosaurus did not change much over the years, and the second version can mostly be distinguished by its unpainted base-colored tan vinyl, lighter orange or yellow eyes, as well as a more airbrushed appearance of the white paint around the face. There are more good, close-up photos of this version at dinosaur-toys-collectors-guide.com.
