The original version of Amargasaurus has a more mottled olive green stripe pattern along the sides, and brighter red markings than later versions. The imprint stamp lacks any mention of "Carnegie". The tag that came with the original release was the 2007-era map-style tag with blue Carnegie exclamation point logo. It gave the scale as 1:40, which is a tad off. Measuring around the curve of the tail gives a length of 27cm, which is closer to 1:35 scale.

The second version of Amargasaurus was probably produced around 2012, when many models received updated imprint text. Interestingly, this one did not get the scale added to the imprint, but it did change the name from "Amargasaurus" to "Carnegie Amargasaurus", correcting an apparent oversight on the original version, which did not mention the word Carnegie anywhere on the model. The colors on this version are more muted, with a lighter red-orange wash in place of the bright, glossy red highlights of the original, and more defined, matte green stripes in place of the original mottled green stripes which were applied as a wash.

The tag style on this release is the updated, 212-era Wild Safari tag. The scale has been changed on the tag to a more accurate 1:35. But, as mentioned above, the scale is not given on the belly imprint as it is on most 2012-era molds.
